It is annually celebrated on the fourth Sunday of every September and in Malaysia it will be celebrated on the 26th of September 2021. This year’s celebration will draw attention to the need for preserving our waterways for our economic benefits, social value and ecological value.
The theme for this year’s World Rivers Day is once again, Waterways in our Communities, in recognition of “the incredible natural, cultural and recreational values of our rivers and streams and the extent to which they add to our quality of life.”
