Despite of all the challenges that we faced, we successfully held our 2nd International Symposium on Conservation and Management of Wetlands with the theme &#8220;Wetlands: Connectivity, Corridors and Catchments.&#8221; 10 speakers who are enthusiast on the conservation of wetlands were invited to deliver their findings on issues and management of wetlands throughout\u00a0the globe. SWCS has successfully accommodated\u00a0over 100 participants from all over Malaysia. This month, SWCS proudly announce an extension of MOU with Sabah Forestry Department for the purpose of conserving and restoring degraded mangrove forest in Sulaman Lake Forest Reserve. The previous MOU period between the two organization was from 2010 until 2015, where SWCS successfully restored 4.91 hectare of mangrove area through tree replantating programme. The Honorary Wildlife Warden is an authorized officer by the Minister by notification\u00a0published in Gazzete<\/p>\n<p>. The main objective of this training is to\u00a0appoint suitable persons to be Honorary Wildlife\u00a0Warden to assist in carrying into effect of the provisions of the Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997, which is to be appointed by the Director of Sabah Wildlife Department. The\u00a0collaboration was extended to another five years started on February 2016. On\u00a01st March 2016, we went to the planting site to monitor the growth of the\u00a0mangrove trees together with Mr. Dauni from Sabah Forestry Department. This event was the first of its kind in the history of SWCS to be celebrated and organized at a national level since the establishment of the society in 2006. This event went successful in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Malaysia, supported by many corporate sectors, government agencies and volunteers.
